RESTORATIONS

This is the most meaningful artwork I have done in my life. My great friend, Douglas Allan Ewald, who I considered a brother, passed away in 2016. In middle school to high school we created a comic universe that we found quite exceptional. We dedicated much of our teenage years to this passion. Although I was always around to bounce ideas off of, I pursued musicianship as a creative outlet instead of comic art in the mid-1990's.

These art pieces I am displaying were drawn by Doug between the years of 1993-1996. I inherited all of his comic artwork, but it took me a few years to be able to look through it as I was grieving his loss. Eventually, I searched through his archives in order to take these fantastic old, faded drawings and infuse life into them, just like Doug would have wanted me to do. I spent the last 9 months cleaning these up and digitally inking and coloring them in photoshop. I always inked Doug's art and vice versa back in the day. The joy this brought his family and me were immeasurable. The left image on these pieces is my restoration and the right is the original.
